: Enhancing Rural Tourism and Visitor Spending: High-Value Strategies – Seminar Speaker

On February 9, 2023, I was a lecturer at a regional seminar organized by the Japan National Tourism Organization (JNTO). The seminar addressed the challenges and opportunities in rural tourism development, specifically focusing on increasing visitor spending and attracting guests.

During my presentation, I emphasized the importance of targeting niche markets to cater to diverse traveller segments’ unique interests and preferences. By identifying and capitalizing on these niche markets, rural destinations can attract passionate visitors who are more likely to engage with local experiences and contribute to the regional economy.

Furthermore, I shared insights on effective strategies for increasing tourism spend in rural areas. These included offering authentic, high-quality experiences, developing bespoke itineraries, and promoting sustainable tourism practices that appeal to environmentally conscious travellers.

By implementing these high-value initiatives, rural destinations can not only boost visitor numbers and spending but also contribute to the overall growth and development of the region.
